Interactive lessons you learn by doing — the moment it clicks.

Scroll through a lesson, turn the controls on the scene, and find the answer with your own hands before anyone gives it a name.

How a lesson works

Work it out. Then name it.

  1. The first card of a lesson over a night sky with the Sun: “Why is it hot in summer? The popular answer is ‘the Earth gets closer to the Sun’. Let us check it by hand.”

    Guess

A lesson starts from a question you already have an answer to — often the wrong one. Why is it hot in summer? Because the Earth is closer to the Sun, surely?

  2. The middle of a lesson: the Earth on its orbit round the Sun, instruments on top, and sliders for the Earth’s tilt and distance underneath.

    Try

The scene stays put while the page scrolls past it. Slide, drag and flip the controls on it. They obey the real physics, so what you find is real.

  3. A card of a lesson giving the effect its name: the seasons are made by the tilt of the axis.

    Name it

Only once you have found the effect with your own hands does the lesson give it its name. A short quiz at the end checks that it stuck, and blocks nothing.

Astronomy

Block 1 · The Earth, its sky and what goes round it

Why what is overhead does not behave the way intuition says.

  • Why is it hot in summer?
  • How big is the Earth?
  • What is eating the Moon?
  • Where do the dishes point?
  • Why does it not fall?
  • Who lifts the ocean?

And a last lesson that tests the block by making you use it on something new.

Finance

The mechanics of money — why a longer loan costs more in the end, what compounding really does — worked out with your own hands.

Mechanics, not advice: no tips on what to buy.

How it is built

Fewer tricks, more truth

  • Real constraints

A control moves only the way the real thing can. If a slider shows a dependence, the dependence is real — never a decoration laid over an animation.

  • Honest about science

Settled facts are given as facts. Open questions are given as open: what is observed, which explanations exist, and why none is proven yet.

  • No points, no badges

No scores, no rewards, no leaderboards. Your progress is a map of the course and the number of days in a row you came back.
